Get Involved

There are many ways in which you can help us make our community a better place.

1. Become a Precinct Committee Officer (PCO). There are 285 precincts within Thurston County and each one of them needs an officer to do the grassroots organizing and communication with the voters. If your precinct does not have one already, consider applying or running for the position in your community. To learn more click here.

2. Donate. We are always in need of funds to put towards electing candidates and helping our community move forward. We cannot do that without you entrsuting us with your hard-earned money. Please consider donating any amount you can, or consider becoming a member at $25 for the year. By being a member, you will be allowed to participate in directing our group with your vote at the monthly meetings.

3. Join a Subcommittee. Once you are a member or PCO, consider joining one of our many subcommittees where we get down to business. They are:

  • Governance Committee - Our newest committee. The governance committee is tasked with handling Code of Conduct issues and Resolutions & Bylaws review. The committee also handles the issue of social equality by training members of the party. The hope is to address inclusion, fair treatment of members, and ensure party policies are equitable, inclusive, and non-discriminatory. Email the TCD Chair if you have any questions.
  • Events - We put on many fundraising events from brunches to dinners. We need volunteers to help plan, promote and carryout these events. Email if interested.
  • Burger Booth - One of our favorite fundraisers is our Burger Booth. We cook and serve burgers to the community at the many festivals and fairs in Thurston County during the summer. If you have experience in food service, this may be just the committee for you. Email
  • Communications - We utilize various channels to communicate with our members froms Facebook to email and we need people to help get the word out about what we are doing. We also need people who can think of better ways to keep the communication lines open with our membership so their voices can be heard and our group can be transparent. Please email if interested.
  • Membership - We invite anyone who shares our values to join our big family, so if you want to help get the word out about our awesome party and our values in order to increase our membership, please email
  • Outreach/Issues - We care about our community and believe in giving back. Our outreach committee develops and participates in volunteering activities in the community. Also this group listens to the voters, along with feedback from PCOs, to develop new platform topics and resolutions, so that we can take a stand on issues that matter to us and be on the right side of history. It also helps inform our elected officials where their constituents stand on the issues. Please email
  • Finance - We have a group of members dedicated to keeping us in the black. If you think you are financially savvy, please email
  • Campaign Services - We are about helping quality Democrats get elected and that means reaching out to the voters by making phone calls and knocking on doors, and more. What better way to help your favorite candidates get elected beyond just your vote? If you want to help get candidates elected who hold dear the issues that you care about, please email
  • Technology  - We must remain at the forefront of technology in order to keep up with the ever changing political landscape. We will hopefully be adding a technology committee as part of our bylaws revision to do just that. This committee will focus on aiding our other subcommittees with technologies for fundraising, communicating and activism. Please email

4. Lobby Elected Officials. Your elected officials cannot read your mind when it comes to issues you care about and how they should vote on specific legislation. Lobbying them is the best way to make your voice heard, whether it is calling their office, emailing them or visiting their office in person. Please look up your local elected officials at this website or go to our Resources page for additional links and tell them what you think.

5. Run for Office!!! We can never have enough candidates to run for office. Our community is governed by people who stood up for what they believe in and decided to run. There are many positions open in any given year from school board and city council on up to state senators. You don't have to go it alone though. We will be there to give you the training, assitance and answers you need to run a successful campaign. Click here to learn about which offices are open this year.
